Who we are
Widgetscape is made by VPO Labs (Viorel Porumbescu PFA, Romania), the data controller for the website and support. Contact: support@vpolabs.com.
Data the app processes on your Mac
Each widget processes only the data it needs, and only after you enable it. This data stays on your Mac.
- Calendar — events from Apple Calendar (with macOS permission), and from Google Calendar or Microsoft 365 if you connect them.
- Email — unread counts and the message fields a widget shows (sender, subject, snippet, date) from Gmail or Microsoft 365 if you connect them. Message bodies are not stored.
- Location — your approximate location, used to compute sunrise, sunset and the sun path and to request weather. You can enter a city manually instead.
- System — CPU, memory, storage, battery, network and uptime readings.
- Media — the currently playing track from Music and supported browsers, and, if you turn on the live equalizer, audio levels. No audio is recorded or saved.
- AI token usage — numeric usage counters read from local session logs of supported AI tools (for example Codex or Claude Code). Prompts, responses and file contents are never read into storage.
OAuth tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain. Cached summaries are kept in the app's sandbox container. Removing an account deletes its tokens and cached data.
Connections the app makes
- Google and Microsoft — directly from your Mac, only for accounts you connect, using read-only access.
- Open-Meteo — weather and air-quality forecasts for your coordinates or chosen city.
- widgetscape.vpolabs.com — update checks (Sparkle). The request contains the app version; our server logs, like any web server, record the IP address for security for a limited time. No system profile is sent.
None of these connections goes through a VPO Labs server.
Google user data — Limited Use
Widgetscape's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to show your own calendar and email information in widgets on your Mac. It is not transferred to us or to third parties, not used for advertising, and not used to train AI or machine-learning models. No human reads it.
Website and waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address, the date and a one-way hash of your IP address (to prevent abuse). We use it only to send Widgetscape beta invitations and launch news. Every email lets you unsubscribe, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time. The website uses no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, and complain to the Romanian supervisory authority (ANSPDCP). Write to support@vpolabs.com.
